"On March 6, I spoke to you about the purchase of a twiddle-muff for my 91 year old mother who
has dementia and arthritis and lives with my husband and me. The day I brought it home, it was
a big hit. She “played” with it for about four hours that day and since then, each day she spends
some time fiddling around with it. She really enjoys the fringe and is always neatly arranging it.
This gives her something else to do besides watch TV or read. I’m just amazed at the amount of

"One day, when I visited my mother who had advanced Alzheimer's I noticed how she spent time
playing with her bed rail and I was struck by how much like an infant she had become. I shortly
got her a teddy bear to play with which she liked, but it always had dropped to the floor the next
time I came. I did not do much more than keep putting the teddy back in her bed as I guess, I
considered the situation hopeless. However, the idea of providing her with something fixed to
